Tips for Online Meetings

For attendees:

  • The best way to attend Zoom meetings is using the Zoom app on your phone or computer.

  • During the meeting, and whenever you are not speaking, please turn your microphone to Mute. This will stop background noise for other attendees.

  • When joining the meeting, please enter your first name only. This will ensure your anonymity.

  • If we have newcomers, attending their first meeting online might be a little strange. We aim to have a newcomer welcome rep in all of our meetings meeting and allow time at the end when the formal meeting has closed for any questions. Fellows will also share numbers in the meeting to allow contact between meetings.

For the person running the meeting:

  • You can view the list of participants by clicking the ‘Participants’ button at the bottom of the call screen.

  • If there are more than 8 attendees, to maximise the time for sharing for all who would like to share during the meeting, we can use some of these options -

    • Limit the ‘check in’ to first name introductions

    • Read either the S-Anon Problem or Keys to S-Anon Recovery, rather than both.

    • Agree a time limit for sharing & ask for a volunteer timekeeper.
